"CARRYING THE TORCH"

Greek and Roman traditions may have inspired this phrase. To say that someone is carrying the torch of a particular belief or movement, it means that they are working hard to ensure that it is not forgotten and continues to grow stronger.

KARL will soon be recruiting a new class of Associates – the next class of legendary leaders for rural Kansas.

We spend a lot of time reaching out to KARL Fellows and partners who carry the torch for Kansas. We have lots of conversations. We know that each of more than 430 KARL Fellows has some sort of goal that impacts families, agriculture, rural communities, and that each of these goals varies. The reality of reaching each respective goal depends on time, commitment, resources, opportunities, and many other variables that impact the timelines of our daily lives. Territories, personal agendas, and even perceptions, true or not, can hamper progress. Staying true to the end goal for leadership development is our focus. Like a committed athlete, we may not see daily impacts, but incremental change, and focus for the good, and direction over time can result in personal, community and organizational championships for success.

In our journeys, we also learn that not everyone has the same KARL experience, and that KARL Fellows each have a respective thought process. Connecting people and resources that can help transform organizations, communities, our state, and our world is something that makes the KARL Network a valued asset. Every KARL Fellow and Associate is a brand ambassador through their experiences and focus on the greater good, heading in a direction that sparks action.

KARL Class XV will come together soon with a new seminar (Council Grove – Flint Hills) to catapult discussions into Year Two program curriculum, followed with a Blue Chip study tour (November) and seminars in Pittsburg (December), Wichita (January), Hays (February) an international study tour to United Arab Emirates (March). As we continue to journey through the Program, we are ambassadors for the KARL brand, making a difference every step on the path to progress, sometimes building the road along the way to success.

As brand ambassadors, we have a shared experience through KARL. People are our greatest asset – “Talent is the new currency.” Help KARL identify, prepare, and connect aspiring leaders to spark action that will positively impact Kansas agriculture and rural communities. Nominations can be entered at  https://karlprogram.com/apply-nominate/ for our next class of legendary leaders.

Sincerely,

The KARL Team,

Janice, Jill, Susan

"The best investment you can make is in yourself.

The knowledge and lessons that I have learned and will continue to learn from KARL will change my life forever. This program has challenged my thinking, expanded my knowledge, and introduced me to some of the best leaders in the state. KARL has encouraged me to do more for the community and serve others by showing how communities across the state are finding ways to thrive. All the seminars have shown me that strong rural communities are caused by strong local leaders. For me, I have learned the most from the classmates I have been blessed to share this experience with."
