“Leaders who don’t listen will eventually be surrounded by people who don’t speak.” – Andy Stanley (via Dale Carnegie of the Heartland, KARL Class XV seminar JAN 2022, Wichita KS)
KARL has recently been honored with several opportunities to speak to groups across the state. We do not take lightly the information we are able to share and the people we are fortunate to meet. Knowing ourselves and learning more about each other is valuable to the future.
We often take for granted that in small communities, everyone knows everyone.
But, do we really?
In reality, we may THINK everyone knows everyone. We are influenced by who and what we hear, see, and experience. These things shape who we are.
Is it possible that what we can recall could now be better than what we remember? What’s changed since our own personal experience? Are things better, or worse?
When is the last time you used a fax machine, a phone booth, a phone book, floppy disk, a typewriter, an encyclopedia, a leech for medical needs, a highway map, a slide projector?
How well we let ourselves acknowledge and recognize change can either be an obstacle that stifles growth or an opportunity that allows us to flourish. Getting to know each other – our neighbors, colleagues, peers, other businesses, communities – can make a difference in what we accomplish, and how quickly we can make an impact for the greater good.
It’s possible change has happened before our very eyes, yet we are too busy to acknowledge it.
Are you listening? Are people around you speaking?
The response that matters most may be found in how well we recognize ourselves and those around us.
Sincerely, The KARL Team -Susan, Janice, Jill Class XV Associates have participated in seminars across Kansas, a national study/travel seminar in Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg, PA, and a domestic study seminar in Lincoln, NE. Most recently the class has been in Pittsburg, Wichita, Harper, Anthony, and Hays. Class XV Associates will conclude their program in 2022 with an international study/travel seminar to the United Arab Emirates March 20-29 and Graduation on June 4, 2022.
Read more about their experience by reading scribe notes from each session. Notes are available HERE.
The future of KARL depends on a continuing stream of exceptional candidates and ultimately, graduates who become better leaders by being more effective and influential. We are counting on you to play that vital role in this process by helping locate those individuals.
We are also working on alumni engagement for the greater good. Watch for opportunities to attend an event, tell the story of agriculture and rural Kansas, to be a speaker, and opportunities to be a part of the Program. Thank you.
Until next time, be safe and stay connected. #BeLegendary Our Contact Information |
